The Despatch Rider's Trenchcoat
The Despatch Rider’s Trench takes a proper military raincoat form and turns it into a remarkably useful everyday coat. Based on the WWII coats made at Private White V.C.’s Manchester factory for Allied despatch riders, it is cut long and generous in olive Ventile, with taped seams, raglan sleeves and the familiar trench details of gun flaps, back saddle and belted waist.
A removable 600gsm merino wool and cashmere liner gives the coat real cold-weather range, while the long cut offers proper protection and enough room for tailoring or heavier knitwear underneath. Substantial, practical and full of military character, but never reduced to costume.
